CONTEST: What Are These Called?

OK, PMPs … time for another little contest.

Up here around Lake Erie, we’ve been overrun with chironomid midges the past few weeks. Now, over night, we’ve been invaded by these guys:

What are these?

My question is: What is the correct name for these?
